Aaron Smith Wins Pocono!

On a thrilling Tuesday night, the Apex Energy Drink  Truck Series, presented by Hank Thomas Performance  , descended upon Pocono for the highly anticipated UD Awards 175. The race was a rollercoaster of excitement, marked by intense battles and unexpected twists.

The action kicked off with Aaron Smith taking an early lead from the pole position. However, Justin Wilson seized control and dominated the next 11 laps before encountering a connection drop that dashed his hopes. A similar fate befell his PayDay Racing teammate, Jacob Bradley, later in the evening.

A pivotal moment occurred on Lap 10 when the first caution unfurled due to a spin involving Evan Pienta. Pienta skillfully avoided a major incident, showcasing remarkable car control. With the green flag waving again, Jeremy Gardner surged to the front, wresting the lead from Smith and maintaining his position for the ensuing 15 laps.

As the race unfolded, Smith's strategic use of old tires positioned him for a strong comeback. However, fate intervened with a yellow flag following a two-car incident between Tony Caputo and Thomas Coonan. Now, Smith faced the daunting task of charging from 12th on the grid to the front in a mere 20 laps.

Randy Bechdel had different plans, aiming for victory at his hometown track. Bechdel assumed the lead on lap 56 and held onto it until the sight of yellow in his mirror signaled the relentless pursuit of Aaron Smith II in the 70 Truck. Despite Bechdel's tenacious efforts, he relinquished the lead with just 3 laps to go, ultimately conceding victory to Smith, who celebrated his first win of the season.

The podium was completed by Ry Jones, Scottie Sobczak, Chris Pearce, Jeremy Gardner, Dan Rowe, Scott Tompkins, Chase Barry, and Josh Ward, each contributing to the excitement of the race. Congratulations to all the drivers for their outstanding performances, and as the checkered flag falls, the anticipation turns to Iowa for the upcoming Stage Break Podcast 150. Let the racing saga continue!
