Josh Ward Wins "Dega" in SRL's Closest Finish Yet!

A mere 0.002 seconds separated 1st and 2nd in the @htperformance 150 at Talladega on Tuesday night, marking the closest finish in SRL history! The Apex Energy Truck Series, presented by Hank Thomas Performance, witnessed an intense battle with 27 lead changes among 14 different drivers.

Early dominance by Aaron Smith II was challenged by Jeremy Gardner, Ray Hanniman, and Brady Floyd, showcasing their strength throughout the race. However, a pivotal moment occurred when a bump drafting mishap involving Raymond Hanniman triggered a major collision, eliminating several contenders.

The race continued with heart-stopping 4-wide racing, with drivers like Wesley Pistole, Dustin Scruggs, and Jonny Rapp navigating inches apart at speeds within half a second of each other. A late caution set the stage for a thrilling green-white-checkered shootout.

As the leaders charged down the backstretch, chaos erupted, with Brandon Waldrop's impressive performance disrupted by contact with other cars, leaving the top 3 to battle for victory. In a breathtaking finish, a daring move by Scott Tompkins led to a three-wide dash to the line, ultimately seeing Josh Ward emerge as the winner by a nose in a photo finish.

Reflecting on his victory, Ward described it as the most exhilarating super speedway race of his career in his victory lane interview.
