Smith II Dominates in Canada to Take Points Lead!

Tuesday Night, the Apex Energy Truck Series presented by Hank Thomas performance crossed the northern border into Canada for the Sim Racing Concepts Grand Prix and the race delivered plenty of action as drivers made their first right turns of the season. Plenty of battles could be found throughout the field for much of the race including some epic duels between Evan Pienta and Nick Dicesare as well as late race contact between Chase Barry and Wesley Pistole. Turn 5, or the Moss Corner, proved to be a hotspot for drivers, especially as they lost grip on aged tires. The story of the night, however, was Aaron Smith II who started from the pole and never looked back. Scottie Sobczak kept Smith close for a large portion of the race, but didn’t have the juice to keep him close all 45 laps. Justin Wilson, Randy Bechdel, and Chris Pearce rounded out the top 5, while Josh Ward, points leader last week, managed a 7th place finish to stop the bleeding after a disastrous Miami race. With just 4 races left in the regular season, next week’s race in Bristol is going to be pressure packed!
